Heliodor Press has created The Romance Heroine’s Daily Planner for daily use by anyone that likes to not only keep track of their day-to-day schedule, but also for those that like to journal. As you would expect of a planner, the early pages provide space to document your name and outline some key goals for the month and the year. Now having a romance theme, it also asks for a journal entry about an inspiring couple you hold dear. To help keep track of your progress, a romantic-themed visual grid has been provided for the jotter to color or cross off as they draw closer to their finish line.
The journal is a perfect gift all year round because it has been arranged in such a way that it can be picked up and started at any point in the calendar. The monthly grid is laid out from Monday to Sunday across two facing pages and leaves the date square for you to fill in. This makes it perfect for if, for whatever reason, you take a month or two…or more off. Besides each monthly grid, is a piece of advice related to love and dealing with associated issues whether good or bad. These serve as generic pages and are equally space throughout the book. For each month, you are asked what your accomplishments are and your goals for ensuring success. It is the pages in between that provide this journal’s unique selling point (USP).
As you traverse the month you, the jotter, is given a theme such as ‘fake dates,’ ‘secret identity,’ holiday flings,’ and ‘fated mates’ to ponder on. These pages provide a source of amusement. Not only do they delve deep into your intimate thoughts with the journal questions they ask, but they also provide some witty advice on ‘hiring a fake boyfriend,’ ‘surviving a snowstorm,’ and ‘coping on a road trip’. Interestingly enough, whilst there is a romantic focus overall, some of these questions are more about loving yourself, your friends, and your experiences than tackling being in a couple, all cleverly done under the guise of the stereotypical types of scenarios you encounter in a romance film or novel.
Monthly grids aside, the jotter also provides weekly grids. These allow the jotter to capture the finer details of the week over one page. Again, the dates are left for the journal owner to complete so there is no need to feel compelled to use them every week if there is nothing major going on. Between these grids, the reader can capture what habits they are attempting to create and can tick off their progress. Finally, a journal for the romantic at heart would not be complete without a section to note down all the books on your To Be Read (TBR) list.
The book is perfect for youngsters that are old enough to date and are hurtling towards their first love. It also suits writers that are interested in pursuing writing for the romance genre as the grids can be used to keep track of your writing progress whilst writing the journal entry prompts in the voice of your leading protagonist. Anyone that is a sucker for love will enjoy the opportunity to live in their bubble and imagine themselves in the silhouettes of couples that adorn the pages.
