First Impression: A repetitive set of exercises for setting 26 goals for the year ahead, whenever that may be.

2024...your year of more book cover

As always, as a keen blogger, I am truly grateful for the free Advanced Reader Copy of this title provided by Noah William Smith. His generosity in exchange for an honest review helps keep the blog going. Although do feel free to send coffee and cake via the link on the right.

2024…Your Year of More by Noah William Smith is a combination of a self-help & self-improvement e-book and a workbook that gives you ample time to reflect on what you want, why you want it, and how best to plan for success. The introduction covers all bases by leaving absolutely no wriggle room for excuses not to plan for the future. Available currently in electronic format only, it is great value for money, for the right audience, at only $0.99. As for the right audience, this is someone that lacks confidence and life direction. They know they want to make changes in their life but are unsure of what those changes look like and how best to plan for them.

Just as the book claims, it is an A to Z of aspects to improve on including adaptability, dreams, holidays, knowledge, peace, and transparency. Under each section, Smith provides the same format. There is an explanation of the concept, an anecdote that tells us of his own experiences, his answers to the exercises he presents, and finally, the questions for you to answer for yourself. These questions are the same throughout the book and involve goal setting across the year at regular increments. Although you get the hang of the technique to be employed by the time you get to ‘Creativity’. Thus, at this point it feels draining to read the author’s life and times, yet understandable as I guess there is no requirement to read the book cover to cover. Instead, readers might opt to work through the elements based on their weaknesses.

By the time I got to the end of the book, I felt fatigued. I had read about fur babies, home renovations, orange and yellow auras, avoiding negative people, and being a Libra. It felt more like a vanity publishing than a book for me. In the interest of fairness, I give the book an average rating because I can see how it could be of use but would encourage readers to do no more than a couple of sections per day. Really spend some time plotting your year ahead and making healthy changes, otherwise the repetitive nature is likely to deter you.
